Las hermanas /the sisters, refers to the wonderful women and artists who gifted materials for this piece. Nicole Jakins gathered the fishing line and stitched the centre piece, and the sage fibre is from Brooke Munro's property.

Coiled wall art with camphor laurel twig rim and green sage centre, bangalow palm inflorescence and some naturally dyed fibres and cords through out.

whimsical pod shape - stitched, coiled, sculptural hanging vessel.  Features some botanically dyed fibres, many hand corded strings and bougainvillea petals incorporated into string. While some of the natural colours are changing over time, the pink petals are holding colour well. Check out #petalcatcher on instagram for process shots #015/31

Bangalow Palm Platter

Technique: stitched coiling around a bangalow palm base. This piece was quite a labour of love.  It features some solar dyed fabric remnants and fibres, including lace and also incorporates some hand made cordage with bougainvillea petals.  It is named after the principal dyeing flower used in my solar pot.

Fibres:  bangalow palm sheath in centre, lemongrass cordage, bromeliad, reed and clivia petal cordage, solar dyed bangalow palm inflorescence using dried hibiscus flowers, lace, philodendron, cordyline, yucca (some fibres also dyed in hibiscus pot),  iris with bougainvillea petal cordage, mother in law’s tongue….all stitched with bone waxed irish linen thread.
